We purchased our first fainting Goats, also called Myotonic Goats,
by accident from a local auction barn. We were looking for a few goats to use as foster mothers for our orphan lambs.
We didn't realize until later that the goats we purchased were actually very unique.
Fainting goats do not actually 'faint". They have a hereditary muscle condition called
myotonia. Whey they become startled their muscles stiffen up and they sometimes fall over. After a few seconds
their muscles recover and they can stand and function normally.
